Another roasting hot day to play cricket on and a tired wicket looking as if it was made of straw set the scene for Timperley's clash with league leaders Lymm.
The Lymm captain won the toss and elected to bat. Parsons and Brown faced up to the bowling of Maddocks and Hodgson. They put on 21 before Brown (16) prodded one back to Maddocks for a falling caught and bowled. Hodgson bowled well in his spell from the other end gaining some swing with the new ball but had no luck in taking a wicket. Karkhanis joined Parsons and both looked flakey with Parsons badly missed in the gully off Maddocks. Karkhanis (2) tried to take the initiative against Maddocks but only lofted a shot to be held by Padidela running in from deep cover. 41 for 2.
Cross joined Parsons and both played well in taking the score to 100 when Cross was out, bowled by Phadake with a full length ball. Parsons had by now taken his 50 and was looking to press on and did not miss much of anything loose. Timperley's line sweepers either side had a fair bit of work to do. Barraclough (12) was next out, caught and bowled by Phadake to make it 129 for 4. Barker was next and scored 10 off 11 balls but was then caught in the deep midwicket area by Phadake off the newly introduced Saadat. 154 for 5. Parsons was now taking most of the strike and keeping the board ticking over nicely. Singh scored a dozen in support before missing a heave at Saadat to make it 189 for 6. Johnson Parsons took the score to 204 before Parsons was dismissed off the last ball of the innings by Saadat for a well played 106 of f 120 balls including 16 fours. Half the innings balls faced and half the runs scored. The most successful bowler for Timperley was Saadat with 3 for 26.
Timperley's reply did not get off to the greatest start when Martin was well run out for 2 to make it 4 for 1 to bring Coad to the crease. Tight in defence and patient in his attack he would go on to score a match winning 113 not out. He was well supported by the youngsters Muttana (36) and Adavelly (18) who did not leave it all to the old man to do. Padidela also contributed 11. Fisher joined Coad at a key time at the back end of the innings and struggled to hit it off the square in a partnership with Coad worth 60 of which he scored 6 before somehow holing out at third man aiming over mid -on. If his innings had been a horse, it would have been shot. Luckily Coad picked up the slack. Fishers replacement, Maddocks lasted one ball, caught easily at mid-on to bring Phadake to the crease. In a tense finish, 10 were needed off the last 10 balls and Coad delivered with one ball to spare despite a lengthy stoppage to treat cramp.
The pick of the Lymm attack was Barker with 3 for 52. A great game of cricket dominated by two batsmen, one on each side.
