Nothing went right for the 4th XI on very much a day to forget. Losing the toss, Timperley were invited to bat and were not allowed to settle right from the off with the Middlewich bowlers bowling good lines and lengths. Fisher was first to fall, knicking off for one to Cummings who followed this up a few overs later, trapping Coad Lbw for 4 to make it 11 for 2. Martin tried to drop anchor but feathered an attempted cut shot to be caught behind and then it was 17 for 3.
This bought the debutante Parkes to the crease and he did not look out of place in a 36 run partnership with Hickman that was was the best effort of the day from the Timperley line up. Parkes was bowled by Farrell for a well played 18 and then Hickman was out Lbw for 20 to the newly introduced Angell. Farell bowled Phadake for a golden duck and then Iveson fell for 0 as well. Four wickets for no score at 53 and the writing was on the wall for the Timperley innings. McIlroy played some nice stokes in a 27 ball 13 but resistance proved futile as the innings closed at 80 all out in 33.1 overs. Pick of the bowling being provided by Angell with 3 for 25 off 10.
After tea, Timperley knew that they were up against it but thought that if they bowled consistently in the right areas scoring could be made difficult. Unfortunately too much loose stuff was served up with plenty of width offered to the batters. Cummings taking ready advantage to score a comfortable 41 not out, supported by Anderson-Dry with 30 not out. Timperley's only success of the day was Phadake cleaning up Singh for 10. Middlewich were comfortable winners by 9 wickets in 18.3 overs making for a very early finish.
Certainly a day to forget and it is back to the drawing board for next week.
