Macclesfield win by 57 runs.

After last week's washout, it was a welcome surprise to turn up on Saturday with conditions much more akin to mid- July rather than early May. Macclesfield won the toss and elected to bat first on a good looking deck at Stockport Road.

Timperley started the stronger of the two teams, Oliver Bevan (10-3-16-2) induced an outside edge from the very first ball of the game, which keeper Maddocks was unlucky not to hold on to. In partnership with the ever accurate Rob Pratska, the Timperley openers kept the pressure on and restricted the Macc duo to a handful of runs in the first 10 overs. Rob can feel particularly aggrieved as his excellent spell went unrewarded in the wickets column, but saw the outside edge beaten time and again.

With Macc in need of some acceleration, U15 Miles Bradshaw came to the crease and obliged in style. Taking advantage of anything too straight or leg sided he made a classy 75, until he was eventually prized out by Shanawaz (15-1-48-4)- who once again bowled with excellent control to end the day the pick of the Timperley bowlers. Further contributions from Jack Massey (25) and Andrew Moores (29) laid a platform for a reasonable total, but credit to Jordan Ruff for his valuable 3 for 34 at the back end of the innings which prevented Macc pushing on.

Timperley were confident in pursuit of 205 to win, on a pitch that offered a little to the bowlers, but had no demons. Barney Cutbil (15-4-31-4) had other ideas though and was excellent during his 15 overs, keeping the runs down and taking wickets at regular intervals. Harry Massey produced a gem to dismiss David Price(0) and followed that up with the dismissal of Jamie Matthews(8). Timperley were always up with the rate, and slipped to 50-5. Jamie Fisher (32) and Rob Matthews (48), were the only notable contributions as TCC struggled to build any partnerships of substance. Jack Massey capped a fine all-round performance with the final two wickets to condemn the 2nd XI to a second defeat this season.

Plenty of positives with the ball and in the field for TCC, but with extras being the 3rd top scorer the batsmen have much to consider before next weeks trip to Nantwich.
