1st XI win a last gasp thriller

Our game against Bollington was a warm one. The warmup led by Jono Fletcher was more than enough to get us wanting to find some shade and after losing the toss again we were made to stick our pads on under the heat on what looked like a flat track.

A solid 90 odd partnership by myself and Jamie set us up to post another 250+ total
However Bollington’s spinners had other plans and took a few quick wickets. Things settled with Jono Fletcher and Nathan came together to rebuild which then helped us reach a reasonably large total of 241 with the help of Pagey and Kenyabs with some vital big bombs to finish our innings.

With us looking on top, we started our bowling effort with a wicket in the second over due to great opening spells by Jono Fowler and Pagey. However, time started to look like it was going at 0.25x speed after a few more wickets as it looked like Bolly were determined to block out for a draw with 20 ish overs still to go. Shock!

This changed however when the 7th wicket fell as the tactics changed when Bolly pursued an aggressive route which brought them closer to victory mainly via the support of their number 8 who made 48 but was runout by Nathan.

This continued with the home side requiring 10 of 6 balls with us needing one wicket.
Catch it was the call after the first ball but it sailed over the boundary with the equation being only 4 needed of 5 after a meaty six.
A dot and a single brought the number 11 on strike who missed his first one now making it 3 needed of 2. With the field in close, he hits it straight to Jono who must’ve had a brain fade as he fails to hit the stumps from about half a metre away as the pair scamper for a single. Hands on heads and huge cheers from the partying Bolly supporters as it looked like Timperley had bottled the win.

However, a full ball to finish from Jono was crisply hit to Nath at extra to take the final wicket on the final ball of the match sealing another huge win for us and pushing us closer to the top!
