1st XI win 3 on the spin!

A very warm and sunny Saturday treated us to yet another Timperley win - 3 in a row for us now. Positive vibes started the day off well with some football in the warm up where unfortunately the oldies got the best of us youngsters. We were sent in to bat first as Absy lost the toss on a usual Timperley road. Timperley getting off to a good start with Viraj scoring a blistering 50 before getting out to Alvanley's spinner that got most of their wickets throughout the day. Around drinks things were looking nervy after a flurry of wickets that sent Nath and Jono Fletcher to the crease to build up a great partnership to help steer us to a great total with some lovely running between the wickets. However they were making the fielders run so much that one pulled a hammy which sent me into field as a sub for the last few overs....

After a good supporting 40 odd from Nath and yet another first team hundred for Jono we found ourselves 278-6 off 49 leaving Alvanley 51 overs to chase it.

Alvanley started well using the new ball well and coming out positively with a flurry of shots. But a wonder grab from Ed saw the first wicket fall and then good bowling and fielding from the lads saw us in control of the game needing 3 wickets in the last 15 overs to secure a third win in a row. However Alvanley decided to look to block out. Boring. However the Timperley bowlers were too good it seemed as they quickly went 9 down needing 1 wicket to win. It started looking nervy however as they resisted a lot and I had a career low after dropping the worst catch ever.... Was getting ready to quit the sport but with 3 balls to go Pagey found the edge and got there number 10 out which saw the whole of Timperley CC erupt as we had secured a very good win. All round good performance from everyone and I have not had to go into an early retirement just yet. Onto Bollington next week!
