The 17 year old Cheshire starlet was brought in to bolster the bowling attack at the beginning of the season.
But he's not done as well as expected in that department but has proved his credentials as an all rounder.
After scoring 104 from 122 balls saving the team from disaster after they were 27 for 5, he said he was thrilled to bits and would be celebrating with a few fruit shoots.
Captain Ed Galley fell shortly after the break but this didn’t deter Thompson from building his highly impressive innings.
Galley said "Zach put on a great display of skill and fight to take the team from a difficult position to a more than defendable 249."
"Timperley started their defence well with the dangerous Kev Carroll caught in the deep in the first over, but this joy was short lived and Brooklands cashed in for the rest of the powerplay taking advantage of some loose bowling."
"Unfortunately the pitch seemed to flatten out during the second innings and the Timperley bowling attack struggled to make proper inroads into the home side's
batting line up even with spinners Joe Ashmore and young Aryan Dash bowling well to drag the run rate back. Brooklands eventually chased the 249 set with 6 overs left after a well made 87 not out from Todd Walker."
Galley added "It was ultimately another disappointing game from us, and a shame we couldn’t defend what was a strong score of 249. I’m so pleased for Zach to score his maiden 100 . It was a truly brilliant knock from the young man who really applied himself in a tough situation. He showed his worth as a very talented all round cricketer and I hope he can take the confidence from this into his bowling too. Aryan bowled beautifully again - and finally got his well deserved 1st 1XI prem wicket. Although the biggest cheer for Aryan was for his enormous six in the final over - his first ever at senior level."
Meanwhile the second team are going from strength and have consolidated their place in the league.
Skipper Shahnawaz Khan hit 45 fully justifying his recent decision to open alongside Jordan Ruff who scored 46 as they recorded a score of 265 against Brooklands.
In reply the visitors fell 33 runs short with Khan picking up three wickets with Mo Usman doing likewise.
Khan said: "We are scoring consistently now with everyone chipping in and I'm very pleased with how it is going."
