Skipper Ed Galley is to join the Balcatta Club in Perth and in his case it's not just to broaden his cricket experience...but for love.

He's been dating Alex, who he first met at the joint Altrincham Grammar boys and girls school prom nine years ago - they rekindled that relationship last year ... and she's landed a job as a nanny in Perth which she started in July.

"It's a great opportunity on both fronts" said a grinning Galley, who was in fancy dress on Sunday for the club's rain affected annual fund raising six a side tournament.

Following in the footsteps of England superstars Joe Root and Jason Roy at the Darren Lehman Cricket Academy will be first team wicket keeper Freddie Vaughan Hawkins who will turn out for Adelaide University.

The 18 year old Lanashire star of the future got the invitation from the prestgious academy after slamming a century for Timperley earlier this season.

The third Timperley player definitely off to the southern hemisphere is Zach Thompson, the all rounder who celebrated his 19th birthday on Tuesday.

He's linking up with Chelsea Cricket Club in Melbourne before returning in April next year at the end of the Australian season to go to university back in the UK.

And he could well be joined in Melbourne but at the Redhill Club by in form Joe Clark, the 23 year old spinner who has emerged as a key player helping maintain the status of the Timperley second team. A deal Down Under for Clark is being worked on by Timperley's Australian overseas player Dan Scholz.

The fund raising tournament was wiped out by storms and lightning at the semi final stage - although around £2,000 is likely to have been raised for club funds.

The weather meant no games for Timperley first or second teams...and the seconds are still not mathematically safe from relegation with two games to play.

Seconds skipper Shahnawaz Khan is ruling out any selection experiments vowing to put out the strongest possible team on Saturday.
