In the chase Timperley got off to a decent start but steadily lost wickets while keeping up a good run rate. Skipper Ed Galley said there was a typical Timperley middle order collapse leaving his team on 140 for 5 - and a lacklustre effort with the bat almost looked inevitable.

Galley added: "Zach Thompson and Dan Scholz had different ideas with both showing a serious display of grit, fight and talent to move Timperley within striking distance as they put on a 1XI record 187 for the 7th wicket."

"Scholz was eventually out for 1XI record for an opening batsman of 162 which left Timperley 50 short with four overs to go, and when Jonathan Fowler got out first ball it left Timperley no option but to shut up shop and play the game out for a draw."

"I was especially pleased for Thompson, who has had a tough year but has come through it with a brilliant display to prove how talented he is with both bat and ball. Similarly, Dash never fails to impress with his attitude and control."

Cheshire County player Dash was typically modest saying he will keep working hard to improve his game - and make the most of his opportunities.

There was high drama at Stockport Road with another teenager Dylan Parekh top scoring with 111 - and according to captain Shahnawaz Khan brilliantly anchored the Timperley second team innings who were chasing down 262 posted by Lindow seconds.

It was down to swashbuckling Joe Clark to see them over the line. He hit 35 and was out on the last ball of the innings and the game was dramatically tied.

"A fair result that gives the team momentum" was Khan's verdict.

In the Timperley thirds Ishan Maharajan picked up SEVEN wickets for 18 as they skittled Northwich to 91 all out securing a win by 197 runs.

But the best bowling figures for the whole club over the weekend went to Wellington School pupil Jack Spencer. The 13 year old pace bowler landed five wickets for six runs off five overs for the newly formed Super Sevens development team.

He was joined by Finn Page who also got five wickets as they left Wythenshawe's third team languishing on 36 all out chasing Timperley's 160 for 8.
