It was all in the genes for Freddie as his mum Anna was a top squash player who represented Wales as a junior in world competition and as a senior in European championships.
His dad Martyn too is involved in pro football at a high level but is well known in club circles when as acting umpire in an under 13s match he gave Freddie out LBW at 95 meaning his bemused son had to wait another season to make his first century! That episode will never be forgotten.
Freddie was first taught the rudiments of the game by Jim McCall, then Timperley stalwart Nathan Brown had a huge impact on his progress through the junior teams at Stockport Road.
Current first team skipper Ed Galley too has been highly impressed particularly during Freddie's breakthrough 2024-25 season.
As well as becoming a regular first team player at Timperley, Freddie has played key roles for the highly successful Cheshire county representative sides - and was rewarded with a place in the minor county's first team. He's also won selection for the north of England representative side during his amazing season.
Head of Lancs talent pathway Chris Benbow and the other ultra demanding county coaches described exciting starlet Freddie as a versatile player capable of making an impact across all formats of the game.
Lancs officials, who have hired Freddie along with two other Cheshire players amongst the four-strong latest academy intake, warn they have taken an exciting step but also are at the beginning of a demanding journey to Lancs second team - and beyond.
Freddie, who has amassed 3,500 runs for Timperley including five centuries, can't wait for the new season to begin with the opener at home v Didsbury on April 18.
He said: "I owe Timperley so much. There has been tremendous support from everyone...players, coaches, managers, the board and most of all the fantastic supporters"
The Didsbury game will give Galley some selection headaches but he has a friendly at Liverpool on April 11 which may well give him plenty to ponder.
As well as Freddie, there will be starting spots for certain for overseas recruit Aussie Dan Scholz and Brown's replacement as junior coach Zac Christie - and then there are numerous other teenage starlets looking to follow Freddie's footsteps.
