New Aussie all rounder head hunted for Timperley

New Aussie all rounder head hunted for Timperley

Sam Brooks17 Dec 2025 - 19:00

The Timperley Cricket Club head hunters have got their man...Dan Scholz.

The Aussie has been hired to replace Tim Reynolds as the overseas ace for next season.

Seventy top players were scouted worldwide but mainly Down Under with all rounder Dan, aged 25, the stand out candidate.

Melbourne born Dan played grade cricket for Richmond, has represented his state Victoria at under 19s level and had a successful stint playing in Hertfordshire in 2023.

He's into golf too playing off a handicap of two and has been working as an ambassador for Golf Australia.

First team skipper Ed Galley said: "He's a great fit for us...an aggressive batter and seam bowler."

"It will be interesting to see if he can get to the level of Tim who won't be forgotten for his record breaking stats on the pitch and character shall we say off it!"

Ed added: "One thing Tim never did was be a substitute fielder for the Australia Test team which is something Dan did in 2018 on Boxing Day v India - and that's something we are all looking forward to hearing all about in April when he arrives."

Dan himself is over the moon to be coming to Stockport Road for the 2026 season, commenting from Australia "Absolutely stoked to be heading back to the UK for another season. I couldn't be happier with the conversations I've had with Martin Porthouse and Ed, the club sounds like a fantastic place to be and I feel very blessed for the opportunity to represent it."

He added "I can't wait to get over there, meet the lads, debrief on a 5-0 Ashes and then get stuck into pushing for a title!"

We're all delighted to welcome Dan to Timperley and look forward to what he's going to bring next season.
