Despite the 2s success, it was another bitterly disappointing day for the fast fading Timperley first team who are struggling to even buy a win.

It was at least close, with Timperley losing in the final over at Cheadle after setting a target of 237.

Skipper Ed Galley said: "It was a familiar tale for our batters - many starts followed by soft dismissals, leaving us wondering if some runs were left out there. Zach Thompson continued his good form with the bat with a very well made 74 off 54 balls, a display of positive and clean hitting."

Galley added : "We made some early inroads with the super reliable Chris Page taking four wickets. At one point Cheadle were 37-3. It was another tough loss for Timperley and we are hoping for a much needed complete change in our fortunes for the last six games of the season."

Meanwhile 15 year old Manchester Grammar School pupil Ishaan Godhamgaonkar has entered club folklore by becoming the youngest Timperley club member to be selected for the highly prestigious Bunbury Festival.

The Cheshire county level all rounder, who has played second and first team matches at Timperley, was in good form with bat and ball representing the North of England.

He thanked his coaches for all their efforts helping him reach such "an incredibly proud point of my career" adding that he will use the Festival experience to "develop specific skills with the aim to perform at the highest level I can."
