It was show time as Ed leads charge in much needed Timperley triumph

Skipper Ed Galley led from the front with 126 not out as Timperley first team chalked up a desperately needed win.

The 27 year old business change consultant played a huge part as the home team posted 309 against Oxton.

It was a triumph that eases the lingering threat of relegation after a series of morale-sapping defeats.

Beaming man of the match Galley said: "As captain I want to lead from the front and pride myself stepping up when the team really needs me, so to massively contribute to a win was really satisfying."

"There were some great supporting knocks particularly from Dylan Parekh with 55. Let's see if we can kick on from a good all round team performance with some more wins in the final five games of the season."

After winning the toss Timperley batted first and lost early wickets. Parekh batted beautifully before being run out. But then it was the super aggressive Galley show who delighted the bumper crowd with his mammoth innings scored off just 91 balls.

Galley went on : "Chris Page started proceedings with the big wicket of Henry Dobson in the first over as in-form Oxton began their chase. Our spinners restricted them taking regular wickets and pegging back Oxton with Joe Ashmore returning great figures of three for 49 as Oxton ended on 260 all out."

The Timperley second team lost by seven wickets at Oxton despite Louis Foster notching 50 to set the home side a target of just 157 which they overtook in 25 overs.

Skipper Shahnawaz Khan wasn't too critical of his depleted team as he looked for a strong finish to the season.

Sunday rounded off with what we think is a first in the near 150 year history of TCC - managing to put out four senior teams on Sunday, all of whom came back to Stockport Road with wins under their belts.

The recent success of the newly founded Sunday teams really shows that cricket at TCC is in as strong a place as it ever has been.
