Introducing a man on a mission

Introducing a man on a mission

Sam Brooks10 Feb - 14:18

Timperley Cricket Club have hired a man on a mission....Zac Christie.

The 26 year old former skipper at Lancashire aristocrats Longridge joins up at Stockport Road next month.

Preston-born battin ace Zac who will significantly boost the first team squad will become the club's junior section head coach.

Having watched the Ashes series and played Down Under, the ex Lancashire representative side coach is looking forward to his new role.

One thing he's looking to influence is to copy the Australian way of promoting talent directly from club cricket into county pathways.

He explained:"The way it is set up in Australia is that brilliant players know if they perform in Premier League games opportunities will be around the corner but in England it's harder to break through...that's something we can learn from. It may be controversial but I'm sure many people would agree!"

Zac was at Longridge for ten years and will be remembered for his 118 v Fulwood and Broughton in 2023 - and his man of the match performance for Longridge in beating Ormskirk in the final of the Lancashire Cup at Old Trafford in 2022.

Timperley skipper Ed Galley hailed the "magnificent" appointment for the club with Zac now set to play a big part in developing the the "amazing talent we have at the club."
