With the advent of the Hundred and the success of the England women's cricket team interest in girls cricket has never been greater.
We at Timperley are committed to the development of girls and women's cricket and have been running a girls specific programme of cricket coaching and and matches at Timperley since 2020.
This year, in addition to softball coaching we have also added girls hardball sessions for those wanting to take their game to the next level. Our coaching sessions have already started and will run throughout the summer. Softball sessions are on Monday evenings at 5.30pm to 7.00pm and are open to girls from aged 9 years upwards (although we are very flexible if younger girls are keen and capable) wanting to give cricket a try and hopefully enter our softball teams. Hardball sessions for the more capable players are on Wednesday evenings from 5.00 to 6.00pm.
We have girls U11 and U13 teams playing softball cricket in the local league with matches most weeks up until the middle of July and intend to enter girls teams in cricket festivals around the county on weekends during the summer. We are also looking to play a number of hardball friendly matches.
An indication of how successful we have been with our girls development programme can can be seen from the success of our girls being selected for the Cheshire county and district teams.
