The recruitment of the accomplished former Glamorgan all rounder is seen as a major coup at ambitious Timperley.
The left hander described by first team skipper Ed Galley as a "exceptional player" is seen by club insiders as the missing piece of the jigsaw as the club bids to mark its 150th anniversary with silverware
He lives locally in Hale and that was a factor in his decision to switch as was his determination to be deeply involved in the club project to bring on young players.
Hemel Hempstead-born Cooke's greatest cricketing moment came in 2021 when he was man of the match against Essex in the Royal London One Day cup semi final with five wickets and 66 runs.
Beaming as he welcomed Cooke on board, Galley said: "We are absolutely thrilled Joe Cooke has joined TCC. He will add exceptional quality with bat and ball to an already talented group that will be pushing hard for honours next season."
Meanwhile Tom Matthews has been selected to be the new second team captain after the bombshell decision by Shahnawaz Khan to quit the job.
Chairman Jurjees Hasan said Matthews has worked hard over many years particularly bringing on young players.
Hasan said: "We wanted someone who fully understands the club ethos having been a member for many seasons. Tom has a hard act to follow."
Meanwhile it will be the junior members award evening at the club on Friday followed by the AGM and senior awards evening on October 23.
In pole position to be named first team player of the season is believed to be overseas ace Dan Scholz although he could be challenged in the vote by teenagers Zack Thompson and Aryan Dash - although last year's winner Chris Page cannot be ruled out.
The question of next season's overseas recruit is now top of the agenda after Scholz indicated he's likely to be staying in Australia.
