The club has recently learnt of the passing of Dick Taylor. He was a playing member of the section between 1972 and 1997 and was the Cricket Honorary Secretary between 1981 & 1994 as well as being the 2nd XI Captain in 1983 & 1989.
It is not possible to confirm his actual career statistics for Timperley as there are a lot of fixtures missing from our statistical database in play-cricket. He was no mug with the bat and scored at least 1991 runs which included 1 century (105 in 1976 against South West Manchester) and 5 fifties, just missing out on a second ton, scoring 95 against Cheadle Hulme in 1995. He seldom (if ever) bowled and held 40 catches.
A quietly spoken man and a real gentlemen to boot, he will be sorely missed by his family, friends and club members who knew him.
Rest in Peace.
