Matthews proved a good counterpart with overseas ace Scholz. Timperley eventually reached 206 for three in just 39.4 overs, with Daniel Scholz scoring another league century taking him ever close to a potential 1000-run league season with three games to go.

"It was a pleasing result from a professional team performance After two wins in three, we aim now to finish the season with five wins out of the last six to show our true form."

Joe Clark yet again proved the star man for the seconds with three for 31 as Upton could only muster 187. Timperley ran out winners by five wickets with captain Shahnawaz Khan top scoring with 36 closely followed by his partner Tom Matthews on 29.

Khan said afterwards that his team showed "great character and determination" putting them in a great position to avoid the relegation trap door.
