Aussie Dan Scholz was a fantastic success at Timperley cricket club last season ... and the big hope he'll return.

The stylish top scoring opener is back Down Under without giving the club a definite answer on whether he'll return for the new season.

Meanwhile another big issue to be resolved is who will replace Shahnawaz Khan as the second team captain ... and whether he'll stay on at the club.

Khan, known as Doc, who has been a hard working club stalwart for ten years where he has been regularly amongst the top of the bowling and batting stats announced he's standing down as skipper.

The Doc said: "It would be wrong to say that there were not factors that led to my decision. I have had a decent stint and we did stay in the division despite not having a stable team. In fact we used 33 players and my priority has always been to bring junior players through.

"There are rumours about my future but at the moment I am staying. We will see who the new captain is and any new structure and take it from there."

Hasan said: "I will do my absolute utmost to keep the Doc with us. He's a very good cricketer with great experience."

The club has four names in the frame to replace Khan, who picked up the nickname as he's a local GP and a big character throughout the league.

Apart from the question mark over Scholz, the first teamers are all wanting to carry on next season although recruitment is in progress to bolster the top two teams.
