A Tale of two Centuries but mixed results for Timperley’s top 2 teams

A Tale of two Centuries but mixed results for Timperley’s top 2 teams

Sam Brooks11 Aug 2025 - 13:23

Aussie overseas Tim Reynolds hits a mammoth ton in vain, while Rohan Parmar scored his second century on the bounce.

Saturday saw the return of coloured kits and a pink ball. Supporters gorged themselves on a banquet of runs in the sun at Stockport Road.

Lindow were the visitors and they went off quickly from the start, hammering 100 off the first 10 overs, taking full advantage of the powerplay and short boundary. A silver lining in a tough day for a depleted bowling attack came from 14-year-old left-arm spinner Aryan Dash, who showed remarkable control under pressure, conceding just 36 runs in 10 overs — a standout performance on a batter-dominated day.

Timperley needed a quick start if they were going to chase down Lindow’s 346 and they got one with opener Fred Vaughan-Hawkins hitting a scintillating 64. But it was the arrival of colourful Aussie Tim Reynolds which lit up the innings and the ball was soon flying to all parts of the ground and beyond. Supported by skipper Ed Galley with 51, the chase was well and truly on.

It was an astonishing display of clean, powerful hitting which turned the game on its head - the home supporters dared to dream.

Despite his herculean efforts, Timperley fell agonisingly nine runs short of claiming a most improbable win.

Reynolds was fittingly the last man out and walked off to a standing ovation, his 164 off 118 balls which included fifteen 4’s and nine 6’s was the highest-ever score by a number three for the Timperley 1st XI.

After the match, captain Galley reflected:

"Tim's knock was incredibly special, and I’m gutted it didn’t end up on the winning side — it deserved nothing less. It was a ridiculous display of ball striking, graft, and mental application. We lost the game in the field, though. You can’t afford to give good players that many chances. Regardless, I’m very proud of some of the Timperley youngsters who stepped up when we really needed them."

As all that was happening, Timperley 2nd team were away at Stockport Georgians and for the second week in a row teenager Rohan Parmar (pictured) reached three figures, hitting 106 not out. Captain Shahnawaz Khan couldn’t hide his delight at Parmar’s hundred, as well as his team’s victory.

Massive congrats to Rohan on back-to-back centuries, what a knock. It was a classy innings; he paced it beautifully. I am really proud of the way he is playing” he said.
