Timperley’s season came to an end with rain spoiling the 1st elevens game at Stockport Road. Likeable Aussie Dan Scholz hit 72 on his final match before heading back to Melbourne, helping the home side to 261. Scholz has had a stellar season with the bat whacking 1200 runs, including 4 tons.

An exciting finish was on the cards, but the weather had other ideas and Chester Boughton Hall finished on 124-2. The frustration was keener for teenage twirler Aryan Dash, he took his 199th wicket of a prolific season for club, county and school, but the rain came down, dashing Aryan’s dreams of 200.

It had already been a memorable week for him and 4 other of the clubs’ youngsters who were part of the Altrincham Grammar School teams which won the Barclays Knight Stokes Trophy at Lords. For teammate Ahan Muttana it was a “surreal experience to be part of the team to get to play at Lords, everyone chipped in and it was a great experience. Having so many players from Timperley was a proud moment”.

The appearances at the home of cricket didn’t stop there. Lauren Kermode and Thisumi Jayawarna both featured in the winning squad for the MCC Foundations Best of the North Schools, playing at the same time on the Nursery Ground.

There was plenty to celebrate in the rain though as Raghu Bhaskar’s 3rd team sealed promotion, beating Chester BH by 6 wickets, all-rounder Matt Fletcher backing up his first innings 5-fer with a quickfire 70 not out. Baskar was delighted his team was coming up as he got the party started.

“What a summer it’s been. Captaining this squad and watching everyone grind out results week in and week out has been an absolute privilege. We came, we saw, we occasionally remembered how to catch a cricket ball, and we conquered!

This promotion is a testament to the sheer graft, endless laughs in the dressing room, and unyielding spirit of every single player who pulled on the Timperley shirt. The higher division has been officially warned—we’re coming for you!”

Timperley 4th team couldn’t finish with a win at Westminster Park, but it’s a been a solid season for Gary Fisher’s team which is a blend of youth and experience.

The second eleven grabbed a win on the Wirral against Neston thanks to five wickets from Zaki Khalid. Club Chairman Jurjees Hasan revealed that team captain Shanawaz ‘The Doc’ Khan has decided to step down. “He’s made an enormous contribution to the club and on behalf of everyone, I’m truly grateful.”, he said.

He looked back with satisfaction at another successful season saying that it’s “Heartening to see the teams in the premier division maintain their status alongside some exciting junior talent that made their presence felt. TCC’s future seems secure. Our thoughts now move on to preparations for 2027 when we celebrate 150 years of cricket at Timperley”
