On a beautiful day Timperley travelled to Disley with an experienced bowling unit hoping to catch Disley cold in the opening game of the season. Winning the toss to bowl on a green top, the Timperley opening bowlers shook off the rust and held in check the Disley openers for the first dozen overs or so. First change Ahmed made the breakthrough deceiving Reynolds (25) with a quick off cutter that flattened the off stick. Rooney (15) and Mirza (10) soon followed as Dickman held the innings together at the other end. Mirza's dismissal brought in Wattasinghe to the crease and he clubbed 51 off 21 balls (6 x 4, 4 x 6) to take the game away from Timperley. Once dismissed, Dickman was run out for a well played 49 before the innings was very fairly declared at 180 for 8 off 41 overs. Bangee was pick of the Timperley bowling with 2 for 5 off 4 overs. In response Timperley got off to a quick start with Padidela hitting a quick 18 in an opening partnership with Mothi (13) of 33. Wickets feel frequently thereafter and it was down to Fisher (53*) and Bangee (15) to steady the ship with a 76 run partnership for the eighth wicket that left them well placed to try to push for victory with 40 odd needed in the last 5 or so overs. It was not to be though as Bangee holed out at cover and Fisher ran out of steam missing some scoring opportunities before shutting up shop to reach 151 for 8. Pick of the Disley bowling was provided by Potter with 3 for 13. A decent run out for both teams first game of the season.
