On a beautiful sunny day Timperley elected to field first in hope of chasing a score down on a belting looking track and outfield.
This decision seemed vindicated when Ahmed had Bashir caught behind in the first over for 0. Mahmoud and Shah rebuilt the innings with an 84 run partnership before Mahmoud was out Lbw for 41 to Tariq. The middle order kept pressing, punishing anything off line to keep the scoreboard ticking over but without ever really accelerating to a truly big score. The bowlers maintained enough control to keep Stockport to 200 for 8 off their allocation which Timperley were happy with. Shah topped scored with 51 with Joe Clark the pick of bowlers with a 2 for 32 return off 10 overs against batsmen looking to play positively.
Following an excellent tea Timperleys reply laboured against the young quicks Caro and Hawkins and at 15 for 2 looked in trouble. Ali and Fisher hunkered down for a few overs and then counter attacked with Ali being particularly harsh on anything in the arc, hitting a huge 6 onto the pavilion roof in a brisk 40. He was dismissed Lbw playing back to Tilly, who then bowled Clark for 0.
FIsher was slowly accumulating a score whilst the other end had a go, surviving multiple Lbw shouts on the front foot. Saleem was caught in the deep off Tilley for 11 before Fisher was eventually triggered Lbw for 37. This signalled the end of a push for victory with the innings closing at 161 for 8 off 40 overs, Tariq 21 not out at close. Tilley the pick of the Georgians bowling with a 4 for 30 return off 10 overs.
