4th XI lose again

On losing the toss Timperley were invited to bat on what looked a tricky wicket with a bit of grass cover. The makeshift opening partnership of Billy & Zain seemed to have weathered the opening storm with a 34 run partnership when Billy (14) feathered one down the leg side to be held by the keeper. Sohaib was up next and was rapidly cleaned out for 0 by Reilly who now had his tail up.

Farooq joined Zain and had scored 3 before swatting a ball from Logan to be easily held at deep square leg and it became 37 for 3. This soon changed to 37 for 4 when Vijay (0) missed a straight one trying to slog. Gary joined Zain and some settling down was needed. Unfortunately this need clashed with Zains view of counterattacking and it was not long before he gave it away for 24 caught mooing to mid-on. 47 for 5. Krishna came in at 7 and was held at slip for 1 to make it 58 for 6. Gary was out next, weakly out to a leading edge lobbing into the covers. He had made 19. The tail held out as long as they could and raised the score to 95 all out which reflected a pretty poor effort from most of the top order.

In reply Holmes Chapel were pegged back when Krishna had Wasilewski caught behind for a duck to make it 5 for 1. Bunn joined Radford and a series of Timperley bowlers supported Krishna in keeping the scoring rate under control although without taking further wickets. Billy made the breakthrough at 54 getting Bunn (26) caught at square leg off a poor ball. He followed that up by getting Radford caught by Gary at mid-off for 12 to make it 55 for 3. Unfortunately dismissing Radford took the hand brake off the Chapel innings and Simon & Hunter struck a rapid fire 41 run partnership to see them home by 7 wickets and about 9 overs to spare.

This was a poor shift from the Timperley senior players in what was a must win game against a team just above them in the league. Hopefully we will be more competitive next week.
