Another hot one. Another lost toss and an invite to field.
Was & Will took first dibs with the ball and kept a lid on the Holmes chapel openers scoring opportunities on a hard wicket and a lightning fast outfield. Will struck first getting Radford (15) caught behind and then Was bowled Hunter (13) to make it 34 for 2. Gary juggled the bowling to stop players flagging in the heat and all did a good job in offering little width to the batsmen.
Wasilewski (25) played well before being bowled by Tayyab and then the Timperley bowlers ripped through the Chapel middle order to make it 115 for 7. Cudby joined Mitchell and a 50 run partnership settled the ship before Mitchell (72) was well held on the run by Tayyab off Abdullah at deep extra cover. The Chapel tail wagged slightly to close the innings at 185 for 9. Cudby 26* & Shaw 8*. As a unit the Timperley bowlers did well & the team took some great catches to restrict the Chapel innings.
In reply Timperley got off to a poor start with Verma (3) caught & bowled by Cudby, Mohan (0) bowled by Cudby and Sarupani (1) run out to make it 10 for 3. Gary & Sohaib did some damage repair with a 44 run partnership before Sohaib (26) was run out and this was repeated when Krishna was run out to make it 62 for 5. Was joined Gary and they comfortably scored 70 to take the score to 132 before Gary (59) got himself out off Clay.
11 overs left, 54 needed, 4 wickets in hand. Doable but not probable considering the teams batting frailties this season. Tayyab (8) & Tharcasmani (5) were bowled leaving Was (41) and Abdullah (7*) too much to do and the innings meekly closed at 164 for 9.
A disappointing end to the game when Timperley had got themselves seemingly into a winning position.
