‘Just when you thought it was safe to get back in the water…’

A beautiful day for cricket to be sure with blue skies and sun shine abounding. The pitch and outfield looked great considering the wet weather during the week and all looked forward to a decent game of cricket. The Trafford MV captain called correctly and decided to bat. Whilst the ball was new the Timperley bowlers exerted a little control and Waz comprehensively bowled Hardicker early doors for 5 to put MV under a little pressure. At the other end Bhuvan was unlucky to see Warner dropped at slip with little to his name. Taking advantage of his good fortune he then started to attack and plundered 52 before being caught in the covers by Waz off Joe. The MV innings did not lose momentum and all incoming bats plundered the Timperley bowling for runs including Malik who hit 101 not out after some good luck for him at the start of his knock, an innings that did not involve much running. The innings concluded at 276 for 4 off their allocation and it was patently obvious that we would have to bat well to get anywhere close.

However, the patently obvious is not always apparent and the MV bowling ran through Timperleys batters like a dose of salts to leave us 41 all out. A couple of lads got decent balls but most of us found ways to get out to leave plenty of time for head scratching after the game. Embarrassingly bad.

Nothing positive can be said about this shift from Timperley and we will just to have to try & be better next week. That should be achievable but we shall see…
