Rain was in the air on reaching Wilmslow courtesy of a tour of most or rural Cheshire provided by Haroons SATNAV. Those on time looked on, disapproving of the Captains late arrival.
On peeking under the covers, thoughts went back to Woodford of a soft green top desperate to be bowled on first. Unfortunately the Captains toss shout was wrong and the TCC openers were soon strapping on the pads. It is hard to say very much of a positive nature on the innings as it laboured to its 70 all out conclusion off 32 or so overs. The Lindow bowlers stuck the ball in the right areas and then just waited for most of the batters to get themselves out. Simples...
Not many games are won defending 70 but the team did its best by taking 5 wickets. Two to Tayyab, two to Pushka and one to Bangee and the adage 'another 30 runs or so would have been interesting' certainly rang true. The opener Davie batted almost through the innings and showed a good temperament in an innings of 21 before getting out caught to a popping ball from Bangee.
This will prove to be a hard season unless the batters start to put a collective shift in and give the bowlers something to defend. A disappointing day all round.
