4th XI Lose at Brooklands

Gary was losing the toss as the last of the team gathered at Brooklands. Invited to bat on a green top it would be interesting to see how we did. It did not take long before it was 8 for 2 with Gary playing on & Krishna missing a straight one.

Phil & Was repaired the damage with a patient 68 run 3rd wicket partnership but drinks had an influence. Phil was out Lbw for a patient 22 just before drinks and Was (39) was also Lbw on the back foot straight after. 84 for 4. Tayyab was then out miscuing to midwicket, 85 for 5. Harkesh came in and played a simple 'see ball, hit ball' form of an innings worth 38 and was able with the help of the tail get to 155 all out. This was most probably 50 light and that's how it turned out.

Was bowled accurately in his spell for 2 for 21 off 8, bowling Stratford Smith for a duck and getting Wilhard Lbw for 53, an innings containing not much running. Push had a go, replacing Tayyab and got Jones caught at point to make it 75 for 3 but that was it. Middleton (33*) & Vesey (47*) knocked the balance off despite numerous play and misses from both and Brooklands were home by 33.2 overs, 7 wickets in hand.

A poor show with the bat from Timperley meant that Brooklands were under no scoreboard pressure through their innings and we just could not stop bowling 4 balls.

A game to forget.
