4th XI lose at home

It was another hot one and the outfield looked fast & the wicket true. With some in the team believing it was a 2.00pm start there was only one option available if the toss was won. The Lindow captain called wrong and Timperley batted first. The coin toss victory was most probably the highlight of the day as not much else went right.

Carr & Velasker opened and were held in check by an accurate opening attack. Carr looked solid after returning from injury and scored freely through leg. Velasker (4) fell first off a peach of a ball and was well held by the wicket keeper to make it 26 for 1. Tayyab came in at 3 and knuckled down for a long innings. They both looked solid until Tammam was introduced. His loopy spin soon had Carr playing across the line and he was out Lbw when well set on 27. Muzzaffar joined Tayyab and was out in similar fashion for 2 to make it 73 for 3.

A lot was resting on Tayyabs shoulders if a score was to be built but he fell next caught behind square for a well played 41 (6 fours & 2 sixes). Abdullah lobbed to mid off for 7 & Fisher was given out Lbw to Tammam for 8 and things looked bleak. Saini (Snr) played well at 6 for 37 and showed a good eye for a ball as did Tharcasmani at 9 who scored 23 but an all out total of 169 was never going to be enough.

And so it was. Timperleys opening bowlers had little luck when the ball was new and regularly beat the bat to no avail. Anything that beat the infield went for 4 and it soon was obvious a miracle was needed. Tayyab bowled Lenoir (18) with a beauty that swung in and went in off the seam to make it 34 for 1 but not much could be made to happen thereafter and Wilmslow walked home in 23 overs.
