On a blustery day Timperley found themselves in the field first against Woodford. Mussafar got them off to a dream start, cleaning up the opener first ball of the innings with an absolute jaffer of a delivery. Unplayable. Cross got them further into trouble with another belter to bowl the other opener for a duck and it was 6 for 2, Woodford in trouble. The bowlers stuck to task and kept tidy enough lines throughout the innings that stopped Woodford getting out of the brown stuff, aided by a decent fielding effort. Some sharp catches were taken to assist, with 2 good ones from Khan in the covers and another from Usman at slip, caught one handed to his right as if trying to stop a bus. The Woodford middle order tried to attack but could not escape the skills of Tayyab who would claim a 10/5/3 for 13 effort at match end. Woodfords tail prevented an all out performance to close at 120 for 9 off 40 overs.
In reply Timperley knew that sensible batting would see them through and this was indeed the case, treating the accurate Bruce with respect whilst taking advantage of loose bowling from the other end to progress the opening partnership to 74 before Bhatti was bowled for 27. This bought Usman to the crease and he looked terrible a first until scoring his first runs, settling down to ultimately score 26 not out. Khan, looking his normal serene self, was surprisingly bowled for 40 to allow Hussain in for a gentle red inker 14 to win the game with 8 wickets and 11 overs to spare.
Another good win for the 4th XI.
