4th XI victorious against villagers

Kabir stepped up to captain the 4’s on Saturday as the skipper was tied up with the little matter of his wife giving birth. Kabir got off to a predictable start by losing the toss & the opposition put Timperley in to bat.

Carr & Saja opened the batting & got off to a solid start by getting into double figures before Saja was bowled by a very good ball, which brought Karl in at number 3 & he soon popped up a return catch to the bowler to be followed quickly by Carr. This brought the skipper in, who for once was not his usual fluent self, but still managed to hold the innings together by constructing a gritty 51 (including 6 fours), before he succumbed to a great ball from the Heaton Mersey skipper. Usman made a guest appearance, but was soon back in the pavilion without troubling the scorer. Wickets went down on a regular basis & the score was looking a little light when Tharcismani came to the crease & provided some judicious hitting via the long handle to finish on 25 not out, he was ably supported by Tayyab (25) & Cross to take the score to a respectable 165.

The Heaton Mersey innings commenced and was supported by some very dubious umpiring decisions, which nearly led to a mass walk off in protest by Timperley. After which the team resolved to let their cricket do the talking, ably led by a great bowling performance by Usman who took 4 for 16 of 10 overs laying the foundations for a victory. He was ably supported by Tayyab who took 3 wickets as well which enabled Timperley to obtain a tight victory off the last over of the game.

The young 13 year old Shri came of age in his first senior appearance as he had the last man caught of the last over of the game, to add to his 2 excellent catches to give Timperley a sweet victory by a margin of only 4 runs.
